About Us
Over 30 Years Experience!
Martha Burns Swim School was founded in 1971 by Martha herself. Martha started competitive swimming at age 11 and eventually competed in two Pan American Games. She also qualified for the Mexico Olympic Swim Team. Martha later shared her love of swimming with her own children, teaching them to swim at age two. Martha's son David was swimming competitively by age five. And by the time he was eight, he won third place in the 50-meter butterfly for the Minnesota AAU state finals. David joined his mother as an instructor in 1984. He is now President of Martha Burns Swim School.
From 1971 - 1999, Martha Burns Swim School was located at the Burns' pool in Minnetonka. The school grew and moved to it's Hopkin's location in 2000. In May 2008, Martha Burns Swim School opened a new location in Medina to better serve the Northern and Western suburbs. We also teach at Minneapolis Club, the Calhoun Beach Club, and the Oak Ridge Country Club. Call them directly to schedule class and you need to be a member of their club to participate.
